My Workout Shoe Recommendations

Shoes make THE biggest difference! The right shoe can help prevent injury and enhance your performance. I have separated my recommendations into different categories: running and cross-training. Running shoes usually have more cushion and are a bit heavier than cross-training shoes. I see a lot of people workout in shoes that are not supportive enough and can cause a lot of knee, back, etc. pain. Cross-training shoes are great for activities like HIIT, bootcamp classes, weightlifting, and jumping.

RUNNING

Running shoes can be tricky because everyones' feet are different. Just because one running shoe works for your friend, doesn't mean it will work for you. If you have high arches you may need a shoe with more cushion, if you have a flat arch you may need a shoe with maximum stabilization. I highly recommend going to a running store (I love Road Runner, Fleet Feet, etc. just find one in your area) because they can do a running test to see exactly which type of shoe will benefit you the most.

Brooks

-Ghost 13: I just got these and I am obsessed with them!! They are soo comfortable and cushiony. I highly recommend them! The 13s are brand new but the Ghost 12 is also great and a little bit cheaper now that they came out with a new version.

-Levitate: I had the first version of these and liked them and they now have up to version 3. They updated it and it has more of a sock at the ankle so if you like the feel of that these may be good for you.

-Revel 4: If you don't like that sock feel at the ankle you might like these better!

Asics

-Gel Kayano: I haven't worn Asics in a while but I used to wear them all the time! They are a great introductory running shoe. The gel is specifically placed there for shock absorption.

-GT 2000: It also has the gel for shock absorption with added foam for more bounce.

Mizuno

-Wave Rider 24: I used to run in Mizunos and I liked them! These have a stylish look with great support.

CROSS TRAINING

These types of shoes are more universal and are more based on style preference than your exact foot. I would recommend any of these to anyone, just pick a style that you like!

Nike

-Metcon 5 or 4: I haven't personally tried these but I have heard great things about them! These would probably be my next purchase next time I'm in the market for an all-around good workout shoe.

Reebok

-Crossfit Grace: I have an older version of these and they are great for days when I'm lifting heavy or doing a more strength focused workout.

-Nano 9: I haven't tried these but they are the top rated Reebok shoe. Reebok is known for being great for crossfit style workouts. If you are doing any type of bootcamp style workouts, lifting heavy, or adding some jumping in there these will be perfect for you. They're specifically designed for cardio and weightlifting!

APL

-TechLoom Tracer: I had to add their brand new shoe! They are definitely on the pricer side but they are really cute lol. I have a pair of their TechLoom Bliss and they are really comfortable but I don't workout in them. These new Tracers are supposed to be great for training!

Shoes like Adidas Ultraboosts or Nike Flyknits are great for every day use but I personally would not recommend working out in them (especially if you are doing any jumping, lateral movements, etc.) If you are in the market for new workout shoes I hope this helps!
