Nice cream for breakfast?? Count me innn! This was so delicious but not overpoweringly sweet. I love the combination of chocolate and cherries together. And you won't even realize that you're getting some greens in too. You have to try this recipe!!
Ingredients:
●1 Frozen banana
●5 Frozen cherries
●Handful of spinach (I froze mine. If you find yourself buying spinach and then it going bad before you can eat it, freeze it!! This way you don't waste it and it's perfect in smoothies. Don't be afraid to make it a BIG handful, I promise you won't taste it!)
●1 pitted medjool date
●Sprinkle of cinnamon
●1-2 scoops of chocolate flavor vegan protein (for this recipe I used OWYN. The serving size is 2 scoops but I used one. So this bowl has 10g of protein!)
●Splash of dairy free milk (almond, cashew, etc)
●Coconut water--enough to allow it to blend
●Optional: soak goji berries and chia seeds overnight in a jar with water.
Method:
Put frozen ingredients in first. (Banana, cherries, spinach if frozen)
Add any fresh elements (fresh spinach, date)
Add cinnamon & protein powder. Next, add the splash of almond milk and about an inch of coconut water.
Begin to blend. You will probably need to stop the blender and stir it around. In order to get a thick consistency, use as little liquid as possible. Add more coconut water if it is not blending. **If you want a smoothie consistency, feel free to add more liquid and it will not be so thick!** Otherwise, continue to stop the blender, stir, and add a little bit of coconut water until it blends smoothly.
That's it! I topped mine with soaked goji berries & chia seeds for extra antioxidants, omega 3s, and fiber.
