I am SO excited to start this blog! I want to share my fitness journey and all the ups and downs that come along with it. I also want to give you tips on how I balance this lifestyle with school, relationships, family, and friends.
I have gotten soo much inspiration from girls on Youtube and Instagram. It makes it so much easier to stay motivated when I have these amazing girls to look up to. I want to be here for you, for when you don’t feel like going to the gym, for when you get those late night cravings, and for when you just need to hear some encouraging words to KEEP GOING!
A few of the most important things that have helped me on this journey is first, to look at the bigger picture. My body is not going to drastically change in a few weeks or even a few months and neither is yours. There is no “diet” or magic pill that will make you get your dream body. You have to work for it. Every. Day. Take progress pictures. DON’T WORRY ABOUT THE NUMBER ON THE SCALE, IT DOESN’T MEAN ANYTHING. Looking at my progress pictures have helped soo much because you don’t really see changes when you look in the mirror. But when you look at two pictures side by side you can really see all of the changes–even if they are subtle. The people that I look up to on Youtube/Insta have been working on themselves for years. Every choice that I make everyday can help me achieve my goals. I am so glad that I started this journey when I did because I was done with making excuses. I can do this. And so can you.
The two main things that I changed about my lifestyle are my eating habits and my workout schedule. Ever since I can remember, I have always been in shape. I started playing soccer around the age of 5 and continued to play until high school. In high school, I ran Cross Country and Track. I think in high school is when I really started to LOVE good food. Living in LA, there are soooo many yummy options. I didn’t care about what I ate at all. I ate whatever I wanted, when I wanted.
During high school, I wasn’t worried about losing weight, but freshmen year of college I learned that the freshman 15 was way too real. In college, I really wanted to lose some weight but it just wasn’t happening. Drinking alcohol and partying every weekend, ordering pizza, and eating junk food made it really difficult to lose any weight. I felt horrible about myself. I knew that I wasn’t overweight by any means, but eating junk food literally made me feel sick. Eating badly completely counteracting any working out that I did. It took me a very, very, very long time to realize this: NUTRITION. IS. EVERYTHING. Ever since I started paying attention to what I am eating I have noticed huuuuuge differences in my body. I also thought I needed to do cardio everyday–along with most girls. I have found out that that is NOT the case!!! I now don’t do cardio for longer than 30 minutes and I have fallen in love with lifting weights.
I will go into way more detail about my eating habits and my workouts in future posts so stay tuned!
I hope you enjoyed this little intro about my life!
